20th May saw Leongatha Golf Club host the South Gippsland Women’s Golf Foursomes Championship. 16 pairs enjoyed the cool but rain-free weather.
The Scratch Foursomes Championship was won by Meeniyan pair, Andrea Thorson and Dot Christie. They finished the day with a great scratch score of 85. Interesting to note that this was 10 shots better than the winners last year.
The handicap winners in A Grade were Beth Curram and Kylie Collins from Foster Golf Club, winning on a count back from Shelly Snooks and Johanna Van den Heiligenberg from Korumburra Golf Club, with a nett 77.5.
Leongatha Golf Club took the honours in the Minor Championship, on a countback. Anna de Bondt and Janet Monk combined very well to finish with 102. Commiserations to Heather Grist and Jenny Blackmore from Korumburra Golf Club. The B Grade Handicap was won by a very surprised and excited pair, Dot Stubbs and Wendy Brown, also from Leongatha Golf Club, with 77 nett.
Down the line balls went to the following combinations: Shelly Snooks/Johanna Van den Heiligenberg and Heather Grist/Jenny Blackmore from Korumburra Golf Club, Fay Quilford/Colleen Touzel and Kay Dumbleton/Rebecca Thomas from Leongatha Golf Club.
Johanna Van den Heiligenberg was closest to the flag on the 14th, Janet Monk on the 16th and Dot Christie on the 7th.
