The 2025 South Gippsland Golf Women’s Bowl was held at Korumburra Golf Club on Fri. 28th February.
Forty-five women from the district competed, with perfect weather and excellent presentation of the course. As usual Korumburra provided a sumptuous lunch with all the trimmings.
Meeniyan Golf Club were the victors of the prestigious and elusive SGGI Bowl amassing 100 points: Irene Holm finished with 37 points, Susan Straw on 33 pts and Andrea Thorson 30 pts.
The A Grade winner was Irene Holm who also picked up a nearest the pin on the 7th. Heather Sullivan (Woorayl) took out B Grade with an amazing 41 points – the best score of the day. Woorayl Golf Club fielded 3 teams in this event, a great effort from a small club.
Lyn Leppin (Korumburra) was the C Grade winner with 33 points, on a count back from Shirley Cook (Foster).
The remaining nearest the pins were won by Merryn Dear (Wonthaggi) on the 1st, Diarne Maskell (Korumburra) on the 10th and Jenny Riseley (Woorayl) on the 13th.
Down the line balls went to Faye Le Page (Meeniyan) 39pts; Merryn Dear 34pts; Shirley Cook, Linda Forrester (Woorayl) 33pts; Trudi Mantell (Korumburra), Kerri Besley (Korumburra), Diarne Maskell, Johanna van den Heilgenberg (Korumburra) 32pts and Maree Wittingslow (Korumburra) 31pts.
