Wonthaggi Golf Club hosted the SGGI Women’s Foursomes Championship on Friday October 24th. Twenty-six pairs played amongst the many resident kangaroos on the golf course that seem to have no interest whatsoever in the serious game being played before them.
The Scratch Foursomes Championship was won by Korumburra pair, Merrissa Cosson and Shelley Snooks. They finished the day with a scratch score of 92. The handicap winners in A Grade were Betty Bowmar and women’s Captain Catherine Bolding from Wonthaggi with a nett 73.
The host club, Wonthaggi, won the Minor Championship, with a very surprised Chris Hamilton and Jan Beaumont achieving a winning scratch score of 103. In B Grade, the handicap winners were also from Wonthaggi, with women’s President Patsy Britt and Carole Satori finishing with a nett score of 72.5, the best nett result of the day.
Down the line balls went to the following combinations: Marg Johnson and Merryn Dear, Jenny McCrae and Donna Brosnan (Wonthaggi), Colleen Touzel and Jenny Teasdale (Leongatha), Sue Hoskin and Jo Graeme (Meeniyan), Barb Britten and Barb Warren (Foster), Jeanette Diss and Adrianne Anglin (Phillip Is) and Jo Fennell and Kath Davis (Woorayl).
