2025 SGGI Men’s Singles Championship

On Sunday 25 May Phillip Island’s Isaac Batty won the 2025 South Gippsland Men’s Singles Championships in a brilliant day of golf.
With three birdies and an eagle in his first five holes, Batty (+3) was never headed, capturing two more birdies on the back nine to win the championship by two shots from PIGC’s Scott Fullarton (72 gross). Fullarton grabbed the nett title with his 69.
B-grade gross and nett was won by Korumburra GC’s Roy Fleming (with a gross score of 77, and nett score of 69) to win his first district title, followed closely by PIGC’s Brad Granger (gross 82).
In completing the strong showing from Phillip Island golfers, youngster Aaron Saric (18) won the C-grade men’s stableford with a solid 38pts from Brenton O’Brien (16) on 37pts and brother Lucas Saric (12) who came in with 36pts.

Junior Championship.
This event is held in conjunction with the men’s event.
Korumburra’s Billie Wrigley (3) won the junior championship with 78 gross, whilst Lucas Saric won the nett division (36pts).

Huge thanks to Phillip Island Captain Phil Ellard for his support in running the event, and also the board and committee at PIGC who ensured the Island course was in great condition.
We’d also like to thank our sponsors Ag Warehouse, Haymes Paints Leongatha and Jack Gilchrist Area Specialist who help make these events possible.

And finally, big thanks to players throughout the district who entered, battled and helped make the championships a major event in our golfing calendar.
