The Meeniyan Golf Club was formed by a group of keen golfers (mostly farmers) who were able to obtain land donated by Mr. & Mrs. Jack Hughes.It was originally a nine hole course with sheep grazing the fairways and the greens fenced off except on playing days. The eighteen hole course was constructed and opened in 1969 with the first ball driven by Mr. Stan Standfield. Mr. Standfield had a great deal to do with the layout of the new course, and the current excellent layout is testament to his vision and skill.Today the Meeniyan Golf Club provides golf for its approximately 150 members and visitors with an immaculate clubhouse and well-maintained facilities. Social Groups are very welcome will find picturesque quiet surroundings in which to enjoy their golf, as well as home cooked meals if requested.
